LONG ANSWERS Appearance: Tall and slim, 1.82m/70kgs, Aidan has an athletic build, if a little light for his height. There's not a scrap of fat on him what weight he carries is muscle. He has light brown hair with golden highlights and grey/blue eyes. His skin tans golden brown in the sun and his face, shoulders and chest are dusted with freckles. Aidy is handsome by most people's standards with slightly fuller lips than most men, but nicely angled cheekbones and jaw line. He has a Celtic knot tattoo on his right forearm, near his elbow, Japanese writing on the front of his right hip and Ichiban on his left ankle. Aidan's body language is usually very open, making him appear friendly and approachable. He rarely has a frown on his face and smiles come easily for him. Fashion wise he prefers to wear Muggle attire whilst out and about, to him robes mean Quidditch or Hogwarts. Growing up on a farm meant trousers, t-shirts and jumpers for the most part and these still make up the bulk of his wardrobe today. Likes: Quidditch, TV, Music, Cars, Formula 1, Flying, Clubbing. Dislikes: Skelegrow, Celery, Being too hot. Fears: War. Personality: Aidan is brave and loyal and has a kind heart. He is full of adventure and mischief, though is incredibly serious when it comes to his job and looking out for the people he cares for. Upbeat, friendly and outgoing; Aidy loves making friends and sometimes takes it hard if his advances at friendship aren't reciprocated. He thrives on social interaction and doesn't spend much time alone if he can help it. He is usually even tempered though can be prone to outbursts of anger at times, usually directed at himself. On the Quidditch field he has a clear mind and a good leadership quality, which is why he made captain of both the Hufflepuff team and the Kestrels. Aidy gives constructive advice rather than criticism and shows respect for all his players. He doesn’t think he’s good at relationships and has a bit of a reputation amongst his friends for having one night stands. He hasn't let anyone close for years, emotionally at least. He has a healthy sex life, but as yet his sexuality isn't public knowledge. Relationships: Father: Kian, Gryffindor – Aidan gets on well with his father, the two are very similar and at times it was a little strained between them as he hit puberty. They share a mutual respect and Kian has always shown Aidy how proud he is of him. Mother: Siobhan, Hufflepuff – Aidy loves his mother to bits, so much so that he had her name tattooed on his hip whilst on holiday in Japan. He’s not afraid to admit he’s a Mam’s boy; who would be with a mother as wonderful as his? Sister: Lorna, 20, Ravenclaw- When they were little these two were a lot closer, but as they’ve grown up they’ve become very individual. They still care for each other, but they don’t understand each other at all. She’s intelligent, but smug with it and Aidan always feels like she’s putting him down intellectually at least. Brother: Kit, 13, Hufflepuff – Kit is a miniature Aidan in every way; he idolises his big brother and in return Aidy adores him. He taught him how to fly and Aidan makes sure to attend all Hufflepuff’s matches. Background: Born to Kian and Siobhan Lynch, Aidy is the eldest of three. They grew up on the farm his mother inherited from her father. It is a completely un-magical farm as Lorna is a muggleborn and decided to keep the farm muggle in honour of their memory. At six years old, when faced with a baby sister, Aidan chose to ignore her for the most part, she wasn't very interesting. As soon as she started talking and walking however, she became a suitable playmate and the two were inseparable. (Lorna even buried his wand in the garden when he came home for the summer holidays after his first year, hoping that he wouldn't be able to go back without it. The plan backfired however as Aidan was just bought another one as she refused to admit what she'd done and the wand was assumed lost.) Another six years and he was given a little brother. He didn't really see Kit very often, due to being at Hogwarts, but when he was home, he spent every minute with his younger siblings. Kit followed him round like a puppy and in turn Aidy taught him how to fly and paid him lots of attention.
Sorted into Hufflepuff, he enjoyed school and breezed through quite easily, when he made himself work. Aidy had a good handle on most subjects and, when he put his mind to it, achieved good grades. He captained the Quidditch team from his fourth year onwards and was made prefect in his fifth year, which was a bit of a surprise, but not unwelcome. He already knew he wanted to be a professional player so loads of NEWTs weren't really necessary. He was good at Defence, Transfiguration, Flying and Herbology and average at the rest. Aidan left Hogwarts with a pocketful of NEWTs at an A grade and proceeded to try out for every team he could. As a child he supported Kenmare and it was his dream to play for them. Unfortunately that season they had no room for rookies. Instead Aidy found himself playing for Tutshill as a reserve Seeker. The transition from school Quidditch to professional level is a difficult one and Aidan found himself on a steep learning curve. The full day training sessions were incredibly gruelling to start with and he found his fitness levels to be lacking. His determination kicked in and he started a new fitness regime comprising of swimming, cycling, running and flying that he still maintains today.
A year passed and he was still playing for the Tornadoes, then in January of 1991 he received an owl that changed his world. The starting Seeker had been injured and as their reserve, that meant he was now first string. He played for the rest of the year and over the summer break, the two Seekers tried out for their spot next season. Aidan was selected and he was officially a Tornado, not just a replacement. Two more seasons passed and Aidy settled down at his club. He bought a house in London and split his time between there and his Parents’ farm. It was December 1993, shortly before Christmas, when he received another career changing owl. He’s been selected as Ireland’s Seeker and he would be playing in the ’94 World Cup!
This first major international tournament held mixed emotions for Aidan. He was proud and elated that he was playing for his team. Overjoyed that they had won, but disappointed that Krum had beaten him to the Snitch. The events to follow would soon wipe the disappointment away as confusion and a strange sense of foreboding took its place. Death Eaters were back in the open and the Dark Mark was in the sky once more. The whole of Britain felt anxious and his mother didn’t like him even visiting London. Aidy believed Harry Potter when he said the Dark Lord had returned, but he was warned against saying anything publicly by the team’s management.
An Owl brought him surprising news on the eve of their victory over Bulgaria. Aiden Kiely had not renewed his contract with Kenmare and the manager wanted Aidan to take his place. It was the opportunity he’d dreamed about as a child and naturally he said yes, joining his team mates Troy, Moran and Mullet in the Kestrels line-up.
Shortly after the World Cup he started seeing the Japanese Chaser, Yoshihiro Suzuki. It was completely off the radar to anyone else but them, but he didn’t mind. Neither of them did. They lasted for two years before Yoshi broke it off. Aidan still isn’t sure why he was suddenly dropped, but he had a sneaking suspicion that parents were involved. He had opened himself up completely to the other man and he couldn’t believe he had been kicked into touch with no explination. From that moment on, he never allowed himself to get close to people. Sex was good, relationships were bad. He’d been a firm believer in that mantra before he’d met Yoshi and he chalked it up to a momentary laspe in concentration –albeit a two year lapse.
Aidy has been Captain of the Kestrels since August ’95 and his Captaincy has been a stable, successful one so far. He’s been spending a lot more time in Ireland recently, with the attacks on muggles and muggleborns escalating, but he’s trying not to let outside fears effect him on the Quidditch pitch.
Plot Intentions: * The Siblings - Would love to see a Kit and Lorna in game. * The Rivals – Obviously not everyone is going to like Aidan, opposing players, old school rivals. Bring them on. * The Team mates – Irish internationals or Kenmare players, Aidy would love to meet up with them and go out to find fun. * Secrets – While his close friends and relatives know about his sexuality it isn’t a well known fact. Could possibly be a point of contention in Quidditch circles, especially in regards to the media?
SAMPLES Sample Journal Entry: I can't believe how amazing the match today was. The team was flawless. So much respect for you guys. You make it so easy to be Captain. Truly.
Day off tomorrow, think I'll spend most of it with the horses. I've been neglecting them a bit lately. They'll be stroppy with me, no doubt. Especially Danika, she's been really touchy since she got pregnant. But I can deal with a stroppy mare if it means having a foal. Foals are so adorable! All shaky and timid to start with like Bambi.
[Private] Things are so strained. I don't know what to do. What to think.
Sample Third Person RP: He'd first woken late Saturday morning, all tucked up in a bed at St Mungo's. The room was comfortable and familiar and he even saw the same Healer he had the last time he'd ended up there. It helped a little to be somewhere he felt safe, even though the pain in his head was still bad enough for him to wish his mother were there. Needless to say, he didn't stay awake that long, deciding sleeping was better as he couldn't actually feel his skull mending itself that way. The second time he woke was Saturday evening and there had been a Kit sitting next to his bed giving his undivided attention to the Quidditch magazine in his hands. Aidan had smacked him in the arm and forced his brother to find him food. Siblings were invented for that kind of thing after all.
Sunday came and went almost like a normal day, only one with lost of napping and quite a bit of discomfort. He'd found a pile of comics beside his bed after one snooze and could only assume someone had visited and left them, seeing as they were from his own collection. He recognised their smell, strange as that was. Kit was probably the culprit. Finally it was Monday, his discharge day. He'd notified his Coach of his release and had been told to come in the following day. This was why he now found himself stood in his flat.
It was exactly how he had left it before going off to tour Europe with the Squad, minus all the things he had taken with him and plus an extra thick layer of dust. Deciding it was probably best to deal with that first, he set about cleaning everything. It took longer than he expected... he'd left milk in the fridge and there was a pretty scary mould colony in there. But when it was done, he definitely felt better about things, plus he could now lie on the bed without creating a dust angel.
His bed was amazing. He'd forgotten how comfortable it was and how big. For that particular moment, Aidan was completely head over heels in love with his bed and he had to crawl under the covers just to make sure it was as good as he imagined it would be after weeks on a bed that belonged to someone else. It was. He had to collect his things from the stadium and he should go and visit his friends. But the bed was just too damn comfy and he was drowsy and warm and.... asleep.
